The tablet market has been struggling, but signs of recovery are finally beginning to appear.
Sales of tablet terminals have improved. The year-on-year rate of change in unit sales turned positive for the first time in 13 months since January 2009. Although it is a very slight "black turn" at 100.4%, it has been continuously below double digits for the past year, and there is a possibility that the market will bottom out. It became clear in the BCN ranking that aggregates POS data of home electronics mass retailers and online sales nationwide. The year-on-year rate of change in tablet market sales continued to fall sharply from the previous year, with 56.4% in August last year. In some cases, the sales amount exceeded the previous year's level, but since October last year, the sales amount has fallen significantly below the previous year's level. In the entire market including tablets and PCs, the demand that expanded due to the Korona-ka has run its course, and last year it was on a year-on-year basis. The impact of the shortage of semiconductors is also significant, and although a rapid recovery cannot be expected at the moment, it seems that tablets are moving faster toward the post-corona market. The upturn is Apple's resurgence. The company's iPad is a top brand that maintains a market share of over 50% throughout the year. Immediately after the launch of the new product, in October of last year, it gained a large market share of 73.8% and is running alone. However, looking at the company's sales volume, last year it was suffering from a year-on-year decrease. It was 132.6% in April last year and was below the previous year's level until January. However, this February, it was 109.2%, surpassing the previous year's sales volume for the first time in a while. The overall market turned positive as sales of the company, which holds the largest market share, improved. While Apple struggled, rivals Lenovo and NEC had a good fight, up year-on-year. In particular, Lenovo's sales increased significantly year-on-year to 140.9% in July last year and 133.4% in October. However, with a share of less than 20%, the impact on the market was limited, and it did not push up the whole. In the sales share ranking in February, Apple occupies 8 models in the TOP10, and Lenovo and NEC are ranked in only one each. The revival of the market depends on Apple. However, with Android tablets, Lenovo has announced a high-spec 8.8-inch model Y700 under the gaming brand Legion. While the presence of tablets is being reduced by being pushed by smartphones, the appropriate screen size for watching videos and playing games is being reviewed. 2022 may be the year of tablet revival.
