Google will bring Google Play games to Windows PCs in 2022. It was announced at the game event "The Game Awards 2021" held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on December 10th.
A Google commercial announcing the availability of 'Google Play Games' was played during The Game Awards 2021, prompting the host to say, 'Yes, play your favorite mobile games on your PC.' A new way to play will begin in 2022. Take your game from your pocket to your desktop and seamlessly continue with Google Play Games, coming soon in 2022."
From the teaser advertisement, we only know that it will be available in 2022 and will work with mobile devices. Details are scarce, but The Verge reports that it will allow Windows PC devices to run Android apps rather than cloud gaming streaming from the cloud, and will support Windows 10 and Windows 11. Google will distribute the app.
When it comes to Android games on Windows, Microsoft is preparing a function to support Android apps on Windows 11 through partnerships with Intel and Amazon, and in October, a preview version of Windows 11 with the same function will be released. Available in beta channel of Windows Insider program. To allow Android apps built natively for ARM-based devices to run on Intel and AMD processors, Microsoft adopted "Intel Bridge Technology" and the "Windows Subsystem for Android" to make Android apps work. It's unclear what technology Google will use to support Android games running on devices powered by Intel and AMD processors, but it will be a mechanism that doesn't rely on technology integrated into Windows.
As for other services, US BlueStacks announced the cloud-based game platform "BlueStacks X" in October.
