In 2017, the two companies partnered as strategic partners to form "Oneemap Alliance".In 2019, the "Here Open Location Platform", which incorporates the map data of Geotechnologies, will be published in the "HERE PLATFORM" of the Geotechnologies map database in 2021, with the new presidents as the leader. We are developing unprecedented powerful partnerships in Japan.
What kind of vision and development do Geotechnology and HERE share and create the future? This time, we will clarify through a dialogue between President Hiroshi Sugihara, President of Geotechnologies, and President Akihiro Takahashi of HERE JAPAN.
Geotechnology President Hiromo Sugihara CEO (hereinafter abbreviated as the title): I have been dating digital data for a long time since joining the IT industry. It is a thought that rediscovered the weight of the data called location information. The specificity of the map data is different from the database in the IT industry because of the point, line and surface. Location information is naturally like air, and if you don't, everyone is in trouble. In the next 10 or 20 years, humans and nature coexist, the social activity that puts a burden on the natural environment is the meta -savvy world, and in a real world, human coexistence, the last of creating such a world. We consider the important tools to develop undeveloped areas as map data. At the beginning of my inauguration, I learned that CEO of HERE (Dutch headquarters), the main axis of ONEMAP Alliance, was my boss in the Cisco era. And I knew that he led JAPAN that Takahashi was active in Microsoft in the same IT industry when he was at Oracle. This was an encouraging partner as a partner dealing with map data.
HERE Japan 高橋明宏 代表取締役社長HERE JAPAN Akihiro Takahashi President and CEO (hereinafter abbreviated as title): As you know, the predecessor of HERE is Nave Tech. Like Geotechnologies, it started as a venture company on the West Coast of the United States from the creation of map data for navigation, and after the acquisition of German Three of Nokia and cars, it continues to this day. Like the global market, I think that there was an option to create your own map data, but looking at the abundant data of Geotechnology, which exceeds the driving survey distance of over 7 million km, it is time and resource to catch up from here. It is, and there are Japanese unique complexity and specialty. Therefore, we left the map to Geotechnologies, shifting to the location service, which is another strength, and another layer. In the past, niche was developed independently for each car manufacturer and each model. However, considering the development efficiency, it is considered that it will eventually be eliminated due to the difference in the number of models and price range. Isn't a certain part the same as a platform, and the other part will change the direction of customizing the other by making use of the characteristics of each car? In that phase, I feel the response of the map, which is the asset of Geotechnologies, the data collected from various places, our platform, and the two companies can create new and powerful flows. Sugihara: I just strongly sympathize there. As I felt as an original experience in California, I think the success in the automotive industry is global standard. HERE is developing globally. We have a lot of Japanese data. It is wonderful to be able to contribute to the Japanese automotive industry based on the successful cases of handling and operation of data cultivated globally, and we want to have a strong bond.
Takahashi: There are various things in the map format. It is unique in Japan, Europe and the United States. If you can share them, it can be a platform that can add changes, changes, and new value. In the future, as autonomous driving and autonomous driving occupy a considerable share in the car, if it is possible to operate uniform development and season for each region, map format. The number of development processes such as autonomous driving technology that uses it can dramatically reduce. Speaking of how to use the decreased burden, how do you make software to realize high value -added services? about it. For example, how to link navigation in the car and smartphone, now there is a unique way of thinking and standards, and it is different in one car. The big role and purpose of the map (car navigation) is to guide those who are now driving. However, in the age of autonomous driving and autonomous driving, we must give orders to cars. With the concept of location service as a platform, all the irregularities are absorbed and everything is seamlessly connected, and various businesses can be made there. That's why we focus on the layer above, from map manufacturers to location services. Sugihara: That's exactly the same opinion and direction. The reason why I go with HERE is that I don't want to make Japan only Galapagos. In the future, we will need content and services for running in the automotive industry, so we want to introduce the services that HERE has been and have experienced to Japanese customers. By doing so, Japanese customers can also receive benefits of global, content, and experience while taking into account the goodness of Japan. In addition to the "how to make the earth happy" as a geotechnologies vision, we are thinking that we will meet the customer's needs together with HERE while developing the philosophy of "Love Our Customers". Takahashi: I would like to reflect the experience, algorithms, and data cultivated in each industry other than automobile manufacturing. We have already started demonstration experiments with Geotechnology, but we are focusing on vehicles, floating management, and distribution optimization. ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival simply arrives early
Takahashi: HERE has established a presence to some extent in Europe, and he is good at inbound. Overseas, we offer a free mobile map application called "Here WEGO", but when you are familiar with it, when you come to Japan, you can search for the place as usual or want to go to a slightly better restaurant. When you do a search, you will be in trouble if you can't use it. Therefore, based on the map of Geo Technologies, we will put various travel support apps on it. The first is to enrich the experience of the inbound arrival and time. Conversely, for users who are used to Geotechnology's fine services cultivated in Japanese smartphone culture, gaps with different infrastructure abroad have been a seamless experience by incorporating our platforms and services. I want you to have it. So I think Geotechnologies and we will prove that it is a completely complementary and long -term collaboration. Sugihara: We continue to say that we are working on meta -shaks, but as various industries enter, maps and platform creation are powerful under the edge. I think we have our existence as the basis of metavers. Takahashi: Everyone may not come to the "location information service" yet. In Japan, each solution has been completed, but there is no solution to connect at the end to end. Speaking of logistics, there is a problem even if one of the processes of pouring or airlilling, then going to the warehouse, the truck arrives, and finally going to the area and delivering it. It is not possible to connect the dot to one line by one company. In addition, since each shipper has a variety of information, it is necessary to ensure data safety. Various definitions need to be made exactly about the standards, the handling of personal information, and the secrets of not being leaked. Where is the loaded ship? When will you arrive in consideration of conditions such as tide, waves, and wind? How much luggage to actually deliver? If you know them to pick them up, you can be ready. You need a platform that absorbs them and something that connects different services with each other. Sugihara: Takahashi -san is exactly what Mr. Takahashi says is the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning Enterprise Resource Planning) and SCM (Supply Chain Management Supply Chain Management). It is old to propose a slashing service to a company customer. It is required to provide services at a glance. There are more than 10 million geotechnologies business customers, the owner of the automotive industry, the location information startup customer, or the end users such as Mapfan and Trimmer. I believe that HERE's solution is highly affinity with our map. If there is a map inside any building, this may be called a metaberth. From our point of view, it is a differentiation from other companies to be able to create a global -friendly map that does not make your intellectual property and investment as possible as much as possible.
Sugihara: In the E -commerce, we have a cloud sub -skop application that matches the address of "address cleansing" in a place of distribution and last one -mile. There is a business that combines HERE's technology and connects to the logistics network service ahead. Takahashi: As I mentioned earlier, the world has actually been completed. For example, in the game world, the stage is different from playing a battle in a building that has been elaborately reproduced in Manhattan, New York, and playing in a virtual city. There is a real world in games and simulators that are realistic. So let's capture this market with two companies. The other is a world where when you do online shopping, you will be charged if your avatar takes up something instead of clicking. There, shopping itself is executed like a game. Overseas, it is already a reality and this is the first time. I don't think that's all, but it's worth what everyone can do the same, regardless of the region or location. Sugihara: I believe that the world of Metaverse will be active in business use. I think the movement of CO2 reduction and zero emissions is to increase labor productivity. After 10 days, 10 days of CO2 will be discharged for one person to do a single job. With a simple calculation, if it can be done in 3 days, it can be reduced for 7 days. Even if you do not move each time, if you have a very detailed logistics warehouse or a shopping mall map, you can get it remotely and pick up the product with an avatar, and you can manage various situations. I think that thinking about how labor productivity is increasing and going to the zero emission is the same. The other is the map, where there are many CO2 in the area, and if you can plot when the oxygen is on the contrary, you will be able to buy and sell offset. In this way, would Japan be able to keep up with the world trend? It's a bit magnificent, but it's technically possible and I just think it's done. So, while tie -up with HERE in the future, I would like to develop such a solution and eventually make it a service that will make the earth happy.
Takahashi: The people are monitoring where and what kind of people are densely under pandemic. Further evolving will mean what kind of disasters there are and how frequent areas exist, and such data will have such data. In order to utilize these, it is important to create a solution from the same perspective with everyone who has the task. Until now, vendors worked and have a business model, but in the metavers era, it will be a more flat relationship. The activity to make money itself becomes an idea and worth it. I think that if we can embody our knowledge, we will inevitably provide valuable businesses when the metazhase world comes. We must keep thinking about what contributions to the market and society can be made. Also, that's fun. Sugihara: We Geotechnologies and HERE's coalition will develop services one after another in Japan, but maybe among those who are reading this dialogue, "I have this data, but how about it. Can you use it? " I would like you to consult with us for all your concerns. We, who have been dealing with data in the IT world for many years, believe that it will help solve issues/problems.
