Fortnite, a free-to-play PlayStation®4 software that has exploded in popularity around the world thanks to its unique system that allows you to build using the materials you obtain. You can compete to survive the battle royale to the end in PvP mode with up to 100 people, or work together to create the Fortnite world of your dreams.
In this ever-evolving work, the game screen split function was implemented in the PS4 version of "Fort Knight" in the update implemented in December 2019. This allows you to play side-by-side with a friend in a two-person "duo" or a four-person "squad" on a single PS4 and TV.
First, let the first player (Player 1) start "Fortnite" with their PlayStation™Network (PSN) account. When the game starts, the second player (Player 2) logs into the PS4 with a different PSN account than Player 1. One PSN account is required per player.
As you can see in the image above, you should see an unfamiliar item at the bottom of the screen called "○ Button [P2] Login [Long Press]". After confirming this item, player 2 should press and hold the ○ button on his controller.
Then Player 2 will appear on the lobby screen! When Player 1 presses the △ button to select "Ready OK", matching will start, and you can play team battle royale such as Duo or Squad in split-screen play.
By the way, basically only player 1 can operate the menu, but player 2 can access some menus by pressing and holding ○. In the locker, you can change costumes and set the operation method.
What you need: TV (monitor) x 1 PS4 console x 1 Wireless controller (DUALSHOCK®4) x 2 PSN account x 2
[1] Launch "Fort Knight" with Player 1's PSN account [2] Log in to PS4 with Player 2's PSN account [3] Player 2 presses and holds the ○ button on the controller to enter "Fort Knight" Join [4] Player 1 presses the △ button on the lobby screen to join a Duo or Squad match.
Two PS.Blog staff members try split-screen play! I participated in a battle royal as a duo in a team of two. In conclusion, the real thrill of split-screen play is that you can play side-by-side with your friends and family. Even in normal online play that is not split screen, you can play while talking with your friends via voice chat, but the fun of playing with your close friends next to you is exceptional.
Even at the start of the match, when the battle bus descended, there was a fierce exchange of "Let's drop off over there!" If you get killed first, you can put your hands together and say "I'm sorry!" Of course, when they cooperated to defeat the opposing team, they gave each other a guts pose! "It's also fun to give high fives."
"You can point to the game screen on the TV and let the player know where you are" is a major feature of split-screen play. As well as the place to descend, you can also link "Let's go here next" and "There's an enemy over there" without having to set up markers or explain the details of the location. You can communicate using words such as "over there". This is easier and more fun than I imagined, and I can't help but do it with voice chat even during normal online play.
In addition, not only you but also your friends' play screens are displayed on one TV, so you can find enemy teams on your friends' play screens that you couldn't find on your own play screen (this is a bit cheating). and?). However, since I was defeated in the end, it seems that both myself and my companions need to improve their skills. It's easy to have a face-to-face reflection meeting (laughs).
In the end, although I didn't make it to the last surviving "Victory Royale", the excitement was unprecedented during the match, and the tension was rising. What would happen if I could win a "Victory Royale" with this...
Anyway, the real pleasure of split-screen play is being able to "play side-by-side with friends and family" on a single PS4 and TV. Although "Fort Knight" has become possible to cross-play with various models, the great appeal of split-screen play is that you can play with people who do not have a PS4. In addition, even those who are not good at playing with strangers online can invite friends to their homes and play together.
Even if you haven't played Fortnite yet, take this opportunity to invite your friends and family to play!
