Announcing the LG Dual Up display, which is a "single vertical dual monitor". Aspect ratio 16:18

Prior to the January consumer electronics trade fair event CES 2022, LG announced a new display product, the LG DualUp Monitor (28MQ780).

The reason for the unique aspect ratio of 16:18 is obvious from the photos. It is a product with the concept of providing a multi-monitor environment in which two horizontal screens are stacked vertically, like a trader's desk.

The screen size is 27.6 inches diagonal and the resolution is 2560 x 2800. Since the aspect ratio is close to a square, the area is about 20% larger than a general wide 27-inch monitor, which is equivalent to the size of a 21.5-inch 16: 9 WQHD monitor stacked vertically.

Why not pivot an ordinary monitor and place it vertically? For example, if you rotate a 16: 9 wide 27-inch monitor, the narrow horizontal screen equivalent to 15 inches will be lined up vertically.

If you want to display vertically long content, DualUp is a product for users who have applications and content optimized for horizontal screen and have two vertical screens.

LG cites the advantage of vertically stacked Dual Up as reducing the burden on the neck by reducing the left and right swing of humans compared to the ultra wide and multi-monitors arranged side by side.

Other main specifications are brightness 300 nit contrast ratio 1000: 1 nano IPS panel, DCI-P3 98% color gamut, HDR10 compatible, response speed 3ms.

The terminals are USB-C (DP input + USB PD 96W), HDMI x2, USB terminal for USB hub x2. 7W x2 stereo speakers are also built-in.

The stand is LG Ergo 2nd Gen that supports height adjustment, swing, rotation, and forward / backward tilt.

Details such as the market, timing, and price to sell have not been announced. There should be more information on the CES 2022 announcement from January 4th.
